Noni Zondi

Noni Zondi is a South African – British rapper, singer, model and professional dancer all rolled into one amazing talent. She has aptly been dubbed an industry “triple threat,” criss-crossing between shapely beauty and a rhythmic contortionis, growing up in her native Soweto meadowlands,
Noni blossomed amongst her vital, violent and vibrant backdrop most famous for student uprisings in opposition to apartheid. This inherent legacy of resistance and empowerment infected many including her family, whom after years of collective scrimping & saving were able to send Noni to convent school.

Noni excelled in musical theatre, landing lead roles and eventually performing & staring in independent plays at The Veerenergang Theatre where she was tapped as a promising actress. But it was the allure of her neighbor’s blast’n Boom Box that proved strongest. The melodic, brash, yet honest and refreshing sounds of Salt N’ Pepa,Lil Kim and TuPac Shakur were heard alongside S.A.’s indigenous “kwaito music” [house music mixed with local hip-hop sounds]. Influenced by local artists like the rapid “uMbhaqanga” spit’n Ihashi Elimhlophe and performance pioneers, Boom Shaka, a shy Noni began her 1st writings.

At age 10, Noni joined her family in the UK. Noni Zondi danced her way to a college diploma in performing arts, earning a distinction grade in Ballet, Contemporary,Physical Theatre and Jazz Techniques.
After teaching Contemporary and African Dance at Kingston College, Noni signed to The Sekoba Dance Theatre, whilst continuing her studies in both science and business. Ironically, whilst studying Aviation at University, Noni was scouted for her own bio-aerodynamics by a rep from Apple Bottom Jeans . Bashfully shy, she procrastinated and eventually lost his card. But spurred on by a friend, Noni was inspired to apply her fresh and sexy-trendy fashion style to modeling. She invested in a professional photo shoot, and as they say, the rest is history.

With requests pouring in, Noni Zondi quickly went from print pin-up to video vixen. And once her cameo dance appearances were noticed online, adoring fans blogged tweeted and face-booked her demanding more. In 2011, their demands were answered, Noni decided to extend her forte into both music and film. Joining the ranks of the Big Boyz Ents, her work rate went into overdrive.

With 3 solo tracks secured on the Big Boyz Presents debut album; mentoring from industry shapers JJC (Big Brovaz, 419 Squad) and Paradise (57th Dynasty, Amplify Dot, whoisparadise); and a steady flow of recording sessions & live performances with Genuine, J Holiday, Ice Prince, Wande Coal, and Nigeria’s own MI, Wizkid and Psquare the South African Princess fluent in no less than 11 languages is sure to soon prove why she is the legitimate international heir to the royal hip-hop throne.
